Position Summary

The Integrated Studies Teacher has many independent and interdependent roles within the school. The objective of the position is to support the mission of the school as a Jewish institution by implementing a dual curriculum. The teacher will plan, implement and facilitate both a traditional secular curriculum and a Judaic studies curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and evaluate lessons within secular and Judaic Studies Curriculum
  • Review, select, and order appropriate texts and educational material in cooperation with other teaching staff
  • Submits weekly detailed lesson plans to assigned supervisors
  • Use both relevant Judaic texts and general secular texts to create authentic experiences for the students
  • Explore opportunities to integrate Judaic Studies Curriculum with the General Studies curriculums where possible
  • Maintain a professional system of assessing student progress, providing feedback, and record keeping
  • Serve as a member of the Elementary Instructional Team
  • Assist with supervising activities that support Jewish life and spirit throughout the school
  • In collaboration with the team, lead appropriate prayer services
  • Plan appropriate speakers, fieldtrips, and opportunities to support secular and Judaic Studies Department
  • Communicate concerns, suggestions, ideas, and solutions about school wide or team specific situations to Division Coordinator, Principal, or Head of School
  • Weekly meeting with Coordinator to convey concerns
  • Provide suggestions for response or improvement
  • Support school in communication efforts to foster positive communication with stakeholders
  • Facilitate weekly communications with classes
  • Report Card comments and parent meetings as necessary
  • Develop new opportunities to increase connections between school and stakeholders
  • Present themselves as positive members of the Kadima community
  • Participate in prayer services, holidays and special events
  • Dress professional
  • Speak appropriate, both in language and content, to all members of the community

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have 3 - 5 years teaching
  • Have appropriate training or knowledge to access the Judaic content
  • Embrace the values and expectations at Kadima
  • Hebrew language is not required but an additional benefit
